About This Dog for Adoption

Ayla's ideal home

Ayla is a gentle 11-year-old Yorkshire Terrier currently enjoying life in our Home Stay scheme while she waits for her forever home. She’s looking for a calm and peaceful household where she can enjoy her favourite things: short strolls, soft toys, and lots of company. Ayla would love access to her own private, secure garden where she can potter about and enjoy the outdoors. She could live with calm dogs or dog-friendly cats, and would be happy in a home with children aged 14 or over who can give her the gentle handling she deserves. Ayla is used to a quiet routine and would suit someone who enjoys a slower pace of life. She is a great match for a first-time owner who has done their research.

Could you be Ayla's perfect match?

Ayla is affectionate, well-mannered and full of character. She has lovely recall, walks nicely on a harness, and enjoys meeting new people. She’s relaxed around other dogs and happy to share space with a friendly feline too. Ayla is house-trained, settles overnight, and is used to a varied, balanced diet that includes dry food, cooked meat, and vegetables. While she’s not demanding, she does love companionship and enjoys being near her people. She can be a little sensitive to loud noises and prefers not to be left for long periods. Ayla enjoys playtime with soft toys and is happy to entertain herself if you’re busy. With her sweet nature and steady temperament, Ayla would make a wonderful companion for someone looking to give a senior dog a loving home. AWE licence number 13090 by West Lothian Council.

Yorkie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Yorkshire Terrier.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Yorkie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
