About This Dog for Adoption

Sox's ideal home

Sox is looking for a home with a family willing to give him time, and help him feel more comfortable in the world. Being a young pup, he still has lots of learning to do and relies on his people to reassure him that everything is ok at times! He can live with children aged 12 or older who understand his sensitive side and will give him space when he needs it. Sox would need to be the only dog in his home and would benefit from having some low dog populated areas he could visit when out and about, although this is not a necessity.
Unfortunately, Sox has not yet had masses of training in his young age and therefore would benefit from learning all his basic skills as well as the fun stuff. This will help him build his confidence and bond with his new family. Whilst he has been housetrained it is likely he will need a refresher in his in his new home so access to a private, secure garden is needed.
Sox is very worried about being left alone, so is looking for an adopter who is home the majority of the time and can keep him company and make him feel safe, with the potential to build up leaving after he has settled in.
Sox will need to meet his adopters a few times prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come up to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted.

Could you be Sox's perfect match?

Sox is a fluffy, friendly, 7-month-old Dachshund x Yorkshire Terrier. He is a ball of fun that loves a fuss and to sit on a shoulder of his favourite people! Whilst he hasn’t figured out toys just yet, he enjoys a tasty treat. He walks nicely on lead and likes to be by your side for the majority of the time, taking the world in with some reassurance from his favourite people. This affectionate little lad is looking for his new home.

Yorkie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Yorkshire Terrier.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Yorkie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
