About This Dog for Adoption

Hobbit's ideal home

Hobbit is a young Yorkie cross who is quite worried by the big wide world. He’s getting braver over time but still prefers a hands-off approach and won’t want to live with children. Sensible older teenagers would be ok though. Hobbit has only had limited dog mixes since he's come into our care as he has got kennel cough. We're not sure yet if he can live with dogs but will reassess this when he's feeling better. This would be dependent on successful mixes in centre prior to adoption. He has luxating patellas on both sides and so this will need to be monitored.

Could you be Hobbit's perfect match?

Hobbit is a 10-month-old Yorkie cross and an absolute stunner! He can get very wiggly and excited with people but freezes when if handled. A hands-off approach will be needed at first, along with patience and understanding. If you’re looking to win his heart then hotdogs won’t go amiss. Hobbit was found as a stray and we don’t know anything about his life before this. He does settle in his kennel so we think he’ll be ok to be left for short periods at first. This can be built up further when he’s settled in. Hobbit will benefit from some confidence building in the car too. Housetraining shouldn’t take him long though, as he already tries to keep his kennel clean. Hobbit is getting braver every day so we’re sure that with the right match he’ll grow into a fabulous little companion.

Yorkie Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Yorkshire Terrier.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Yorkie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
