Description

Bear's ideal home

Bear is 7 year old Yorkie who is as cute as a button! He is looking for a family who have previously owned a rescue dog or a similar breed. Bear is uncomfortable with some handling and prefers his own space. Once he gets to know you, he does enjoy jumping onto your lap for snuggles and a snooze but this relationship will only come with time. He would benefit from having quiet places around the home to retreat to if feeling overwhelmed. Although Bear enjoys socialising with other dogs on his walks, he would prefer to have the home to himself. He would also love to have his own private garden that can be accessed straight from the home that has a 5ft minimum fence. Bear will need to be kept on lead whilst out in public due to his high prey drive and worried behaviour. He would also be looking for any children in the home or visiting to be 16 years and over and he would benefit from a quiet home with limited visitors. Bear has enjoyed some time in foster where he is a great companion, house-trained and we've discovered that he likes to help with jigsaws and/or reading books!

Could you be Bear's perfect match?

Bear is able to be left for a couple of hours a day, but we would recommend building this time up gradually. When he was younger, he had an unfortunate incident in the groomers which has led to him being worried by grooming and receiving veterinary attention. To keep him safe, he will need to wear a muzzle when he is at the vets or groomers. He would like a patient family who can work on these things slowly and take extra care in these scenarios. This little lad does have a medical condition which we can discuss with any potential adopters in more detail. He is a wee gem who can take his time to build up trust, so he will require multiple meets at the centre. Once he trusts you, he loves to play with his squeaky toys and heading out in the car for a fun adventure!

Yorkie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Yorkshire Terrier.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
